Screenwriting
My screenwriting projects involve crafting engaging narratives with strong characters and dynamic dialogue. Through these projects, I've learned how to structure stories effectively, build tension, and create characters that resonate with audiences. Each script has enhanced my ability to translate ideas into compelling, visual-driven narratives that evoke emotion and drive impact.
Voices is a script I wrote in my Writing for the Television and Film (CA466) class, based on the short story "Voices" by Alice Munro. We were assigned to write one adapted screenplay from nine different short story options, and I felt a connection to this one. I began visualizing how I wanted to bring it to life. Because this was the first screenplay I have ever written by myself, the most difficult part was deciding how I wanted to describe the narrative overall. It took several sittings of muddling through my thoughts before it felt like the script was finally "clicking," but once I got into a rhythm, it was a very enjoyable experience.

In this coming-of-age drama set in the 1930s, we follow 12-year-old Mira as she grapples with societal expectations and personal belonging. At a lively yet rigid social gathering, she encounters Lyra Cadault, a woman shunned for defying convention. In a quiet moment, Lyra challenges Mira's worldview, urging her to embrace her differences and courageously break free. With vivid imagery and emotional tension, the script explores identity, freedom, and the cost of defiance.
I See You is a script I wrote with Morgan Humbert and Maddie Quicksell in my Introduction to Media Production (CA355) class. We were assigned to write a short fictional narrative. This was the first screenplay I have ever written, so I was glad to work on it with a group. We shot and edited it together, and I ended up starring as the main character too.

This coming-of-age drama follows Emma, a young woman who begins to feel completely invisible to the world around her. As she struggles to connect with others, including her boyfriend, Nick, she’s met with indifference and isolation. In her distress, Emma spirals into a moment of existential uncertainty, fearing she might truly vanish forever. The film explores themes of emotional disconnection and the longing to be seen, culminating in a poignant moment of reconciliation as Emma and Nick confront their feelings and rediscover their connection.
